SRI- Prog.
For all Chrysler vehicles 96-2003.
All Chrysler cars with OBD-II standard have a second memory in the engine control module . It is necessary to reprogram this memory in order to complete the job at hand.
SRI-Prog Connector       This memory is accessible through the Chrysler diagnostic tool DRB-III. Obtaining a second hand DRB-III tool is very difficult and expensive.
Alternatively , the SRI-Prog is the most efficient tool you will find on the market for this task.
At the present time ,there is only one German made tool that is capable to reprogram the engine memory and it can only do so on 1996 &97 models.
One of the SRI-Prog's unbeatable features is that it covers all models from 1996 to 2003 with 2nd generation SRI.
There is no direct access to the memory of ECM. You must go through the diagnostic OBD-II connector.
You simply connect the interface to the OBD-II connector and run the software.
The program will then guide you through the process .

Some history and information on SRI

Chrysler SRI has 3 different stages since it was implemented. 1st Generation of SRI mileage were noticed in 1993 in cars like Intrepid, Caravan, Etc. At that time Chrysler used DRB-II for their diagnostics and SRI programing.
In 1996 Chrysler had major changes in their technology and it was impossible to keep up with old equipement like DRB-II. Implementation of new technologies like Invehicle network requiered new hi-tech scan tool and then their main tool became DRB-III.
In 1998 some errors were corrected in SRI communication ,and some litle changes were made to the protocol itself.
Implementation of the CCD communication made possible to store data in different modules connected to the network, and any other module could get this information by sending a request to that module, for example, Mileage stored in BCM and displayed to a driver from instrument cluster, and that is how DRB-III became a necesity for people doing repair, reprogramming and mileage calibration. The protocol of 2nd Generation SRI continued untill 2002.
In 2002 People who had DRB-III noticed that it will not work on Intrapid,300M,and some other new vehicles had problems too. Chrysler made changes to there powertrain controller . Now it is containing ECM and TCM in the same housing . It has 2 memories inside, 1 for Engine and another for Transmissin to support 2 in one functions they had to change communication protocol. And those people who had DRB tool needed to make an update.(Be careful if you're looking for one to purchase) And there is a surprise for those who have and use DRB for 3D generation SRI . Mileage stored in another location of the memory not accesible by DRB but by repair shop equipement and MY SRI prog tool is able to reset it with one push of a button. this is current information on 3d Generation SRI.
